Pistol Purchase Permits: Applicants must fill out an on-line application. Applicants will be called and given an appointment time for the purpose of dropping off a mental health release form and providing the proper identification. Applications are not considered complete until the applicant has completed the appointment process. Approved permits will be delivered at appointment time. We will not accept those without an appointment. Appointments will be conducted from 8:30 A.M. – 12:00P.M. and given out in the order applications were received.
Renewal of Current Carried Concealed Handgun Permits: Applicants must fill out an on-line renewal application. Acceptance of the renewal packet will be conducted by appointment only.
New Carried Concealed Permits: Fingerprinting for new carried concealed permits will resume June 1st, 2020. You must complete a North Carolina State approve carried concealed handgun course prior to application. After you have completed your online application you must make an appointment to turn in the required documents and be fingerprinted. We will not accept walk ins you must have an appointment. Due to public health concerns you must wear a face mask/covering when entering our facility for fingerprinting
Change of Address and Duplicate Card Requests: Change of address can be made by telephone by calling our office at 919-856-6949, please have your proper address already updated in DMV. You may also mail a change of address request to the address below. Duplicate CCH permits requests can be made by mail, please send the $15 fee by check or money order to 330 S. Salisbury St. Raleigh N.C. 27601. Please include a letter explaining your card is lost or damaged with your name, telephone number, driver's license, and permit number.
Welcome! This is an official application for a permit to purchase and own a pistol or handgun. You must completely and accurately fill-out this application to be considered for a permit. Any falsification of the information within this application will result in the refusal of this application for a purchase permit.
Please note, the average processing time is approximately 14 days from the date that you successfully submitted your online application however demand is extremely high expect longer than normal turnaround times. All applications are processed in the order that they are received.
A non-refundable processing fee of $5.00 is required. In addition, a convenience fee of $3.00 is required to process payment. These fees will be charged even if your application is denied.
